Richard Urban 

Richard Urban began experimenting with ceramics in the mid-eighties, and became a professional printmaker in the nineties.  Finding his heart really belonged to ceramics, he returned to the medium and then spent years developing and perfecting the subtle glazes and carved patterns used on his tableware and lamps.  His ceramics business grew out of his delight in blending form, pattern, and glaze in such a way that no single element overpowers the others.  The patterns were created for surface interest as well as to enhance the form.  In effect this creates a very pleasing understated harmony
